Our top three are separated by a single HBP in our latest update. Injuries continue to loom large in this year's contest, as Zach Britton, Aroldis Chapman, Brandon Guyer, and Freddie Freeman make extended stays in the infirmary. On the bright side, Ian Kennedy should be returning to the mound in game 2 of a Royals-Twins doubleheader today.

Perhaps this year is not that much different from prior years, but I'm (Dan) back to doing the write-ups so there's an angle that feels noteworthy to me. The story of this young season seems to be injuries to players that will have a significant impact on this year's pool.
Most notable, of course, is Madison Bumgarner. The Giants ace's chances of leading the NL in IP basically crashed in his dirt-bike accident a couple weeks ago. This development is good news to the 7 of 21 pool participants who didn't pick him in this category, and especially bad news to the three of you who picked him for both NL IP and SO.
Noah Syndergaard (picked by 4 in NL SO, 4 in NL ERA and 2 in NL W) has the potential to be a lost pick as well, while many of us are holding our breath regarding Corey Kluber's (picked by 10 in AL ERA, 5 in AL IP, 4 in AL W, 1 in AL SO) back. Injuries to Josh Donaldson, David Price, J.A. Happ, Aaron Sanchez and Ian Kennedy, to name a few, and the suspension of Starling Marte are no laughing matter either.
Prior to today's action, Jud and Mark Watzke are tied for the pool's top spot, but since we're all baseball fans I don't need to tell you this...it's a long season and it's just getting started.
